The Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao of Timor-Leste

At the Presidental Palace after meeting with the President Ramos-Horta on Thursday (03/ August/ 2023), the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Xanana Gusmao, stated that “if ASEAN is unable to convince the military junta in Myanmar, I can say Timor-Leste cannot yet trust this association, this is the position of government”. Also, he presented a strong statement that “As a Prime Minister, Timor-Leste will not join the ASEAN, if the association is unable to convince the Myanmar military junta, I have also conveyed Timor-Leste's position to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres”.
